Medical/Surgical Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Batavia, NY

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: 4x12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Start Date: October 12, 2026

This busy medical/surgical telemetry unit serves a diverse patient population spanning adolescents through geriatrics. The unit functions as a joint center of excellence, with a strong focus on orthopedic surgical patients including hip, knee, and shoulder replacements. General surgery cases — appendectomies, exploratory laparotomies, hernias, and small bowel obstructions — are also a core part of the census. Medical patients requiring telemetry monitoring round out the unit's caseload.

Unit Structure & Expectations

• Care delivery model: 1 RN, 1 LPN, 1 PCT per team; modified teams used when full teams are unavailable
• Float required to other medical/surgical units
• Weekend coverage: every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility

Required Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Key Clinical Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Central line, PICC, and port access/management
• Tracheostomy care, surgical drains, wound care/wound VAC
• BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Total joint replacement care, continuous bladder irrigation, colostomy/ileostomy management

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• NY state license required prior to submission
• Prior charge experience preferred
• Scrubs: navy blue and/or white

Orientation: 12 hours
