CVICU Travel RN — La Jolla, CA | 13-Week Contract
Shift: Days, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30) | Sun–Sat availability required
Block schedule option: Friday/Saturday/Sunday available if preferred

About the Unit
This cardiovascular ICU manages a complex adult and geriatric population with high-acuity cardiac, vascular, and multisystem diagnoses. Clinical scope includes post-cardiac surgery patients, ECMO management, ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD), IABP, Impella, TAVR, CABG, valve repair/replacement, and pre/post cardiac cath care. Additional competencies utilized include CRRT/CVVHD, ICP monitoring, epicardial pacing wire management, pulmonary artery catheter monitoring, and acute stroke management.
Scheduling & Float Requirements
- 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle; at least one holiday shift required
- Float may be required to ICU or step-down/tele units across multiple campuses within the San Diego health system (excluding the ED)
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Active CA RN license (Temp or Perm) in hand at time of submission
- BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS
- TNCC, LVAD, and CRRT certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of concurrent CVICU experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Electronic health record proficiency within the past 6 months required
- No candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility
Weekend & Time-Off Policy
- Maximum 7 days of pre-approved time off; no new RTO requests after submission
- 1 supervisory reference required
