Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) — Travel RN | Night Shift | San Diego, CA

This 13-week contract places you in a high-acuity CVICU managing complex adult and geriatric cardiovascular and critical care patients. The unit supports a broad clinical scope, including post-cardiac surgery, ECMO, LVAD, IABP, Impella, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and acute stroke management.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights, 3×12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Block scheduling (Fri/Sat/Sun) available upon request
• 4 weekend shifts per 4-week cycle; at least one holiday shift required

Float Requirements

• May float within the health system to like ICU units or down to step-down/telemetry (excluding the ED)
• Floats may include other campuses within the San Diego area

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active CA RN license (Temp or Perm) required at time of submittal
• BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
• NIHSS
• TNCC, LVAD, and CRRT certifications preferred

Clinical Skills

• Ventilator and ECMO management, arterial/central line care, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring
• CVVHD/CRRT, epicardial pacing wire management, ICP and EVD monitoring
• Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, IV insulin protocols, continuous sedation and paralytic management
• Post-cardiac surgery care (direct from OR), CABG, pre/post cath/intervention, TAVR, stroke protocol

Minimum Requirements

• 2+ years of concurrent CVICU or equivalent critical care experience
• Prior travel RN experience required
• Charting system proficiency required (last 6 months of work history)
• 1 supervisory reference required; no more than 7 days RTO
