NICU Registered Nurse — Travel Contract
Lubbock, TX | Days 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 26-Week Contract
A children's hospital in Lubbock, TX is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a 26-week travel contract. This is a high-acuity neonatal unit managing a broad range of complex diagnoses.
Shift & Schedule
- 3×12-hour day shifts (07:00–19:00)
- Self-scheduling with 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
- Block scheduling required
- On-call not required
Unit & Patient Population
The unit cares exclusively for neonates, with a typical daily census near 35. Common diagnoses include prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), and surgical cases across all subspecialties except cardiac.
Clinical Skills & Procedures
Candidates should be proficient in:
- Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP), high-frequency ventilation, bubble CPAP, HFNC, nitric oxide therapy
- UAC/UVC placement support, arterial line management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Central line care, chest tube management, therapeutic hypothermia
- Management of NEC, neonatal abstinence syndrome, meconium aspiration, and HIE
- Neonatal dosage calculations, blood product administration, IV vasopressors
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience; Level III or IV experience strongly preferred
- BLS and NRP Advanced certifications required
- Compact RN license valid and in hand at time of submission
- Float to nearby pediatric units (Peds/PICU/Pedi ED) on a PRN basis

Holiday commitment required: candidates must be available for 3 of 5 designated holidays. All RTO must be submitted upfront.
