NICU RN – Night Shift | Travel Contract
This children's hospital NICU seeks an experienced neonatal RN for a night shift travel assignment. The unit manages a complex patient population including premature neonates, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), and surgical cases across all subspecialties except cardiac.
Assignment Details
- Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Contract duration: 26 weeks (longer contracts considered)
- Start date: October 2026
- Scrub color: Navy (RN)
Scheduling
- Self-scheduling with block schedule required
- 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
- No on-call required
- Float to pediatric/PICU/pedi ED on a PRN basis; float between nearby sister facilities may also be required
- Must commit to 3 of 5 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All time-off requests must be submitted upfront at time of submittal
Clinical Scope
The unit cares for neonates including those under 34 weeks gestation. Required skills include:
- High-frequency and conventional ventilator management
- Bubble CPAP, HFNC, nitric oxide therapy
- UAC/UVC care, arterial and central line management
- Therapeutic hypothermia, ICP monitoring
- Surgical neonatal care (gastroschisis, omphalocele, NEC, post-abdominal surgery)
- Neonatal abstinence syndrome, phototherapy, neonatal sepsis workup
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years NICU experience; Level III experience strongly preferred
- Active compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)
- BLS and NRP Advanced certifications required
- 12-hour orientation provided
