NICU RN — Travel Contract | Lubbock, TX

Shift: Days, 3x12 (07:00–19:00)

Contract Duration: 26 weeks

Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU)

This pediatric facility's NICU cares for critically ill neonates across a broad acuity spectrum, including premature infants as young as 29 weeks, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), and complex surgical cases spanning all subspecialties except cardiac.

Shift & Scheduling

  • Day shift, 3x12-hour blocks; self-scheduling
  • 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
  • Block schedules required
  • Commitment to 3 of 5 holidays required (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Float between units is required; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment

Required Experience & Credentials

  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience; Level III experience strongly preferred
  • Active compact RN license in hand at time of submission
  • Certifications: BLS, NRP

Clinical Skills Include

  • Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high-frequency oscillation, bubble CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula
  • Nitric oxide therapy, therapeutic hypothermia, surfactant administration
  • UAC/UVC placement and management, arterial line management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring
  • Central line care, chest tube management, phlebotomy
  • Neonatal abstinence syndrome, NEC, meconium aspiration, gastroschisis/omphalocele care
  • Phototherapy, APGAR scoring, developmental care, family teaching
