NICU RN – Level III/IV | Night Shift | Lubbock, TX

Contract: 26 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Start: October 19, 2026

This high-acuity neonatal unit cares for a complex patient population including premature infants, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, neonatal sepsis, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), and surgical cases across all subspecialties except cardiac. The unit operates at a Level III/IV acuity level with a daily census of approximately 35 neonates.

Schedule & Floating

  • Self-scheduling with block schedule required
  • 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
  • Float to pediatric units (PICU, pedi ED) on a PRN basis; refusal to float may impact guaranteed hours
  • No on-call required
  • Candidates must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience; Level III experience strongly preferred
  • Active compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)
  • Certifications: BLS, NRP Advanced

Clinical Skills Required

  • Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP), high-frequency ventilation, bubble CPAP, HFNC
  • UAC/UVC management, arterial line management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring
  • Therapeutic hypothermia, nitric oxide administration, oscillator management
  • Management of chest tubes, tracheostomy care, VP shunts
  • Neonatal dosage calculations, sepsis workup, phototherapy, surfactant administration
