NICU Level III RN – Day Shift

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced NICU RN to provide direct care to critically ill neonates in a Level III unit. You'll manage complex medical and surgical cases across all neonatal subspecialties (excluding cardiac), working with a daily census of 35 patients.

Shift & Schedule

  • Days: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Block scheduling required
  • Weekend coverage: 6 shifts per 6-week period; self-scheduled and variable
  • Float requirement: Yes, PRN between units
  • Call: Not required
  • Duration: 26 weeks

Patient Care & Ratios

  • Patient population: Neonates, including premature infants, post-surgical cases, and those with respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)

Clinical Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 2+ years NICU experience; Level III experience preferred
  • BLS and NRP Advanced certifications
  • Competency with:
  • Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP), oscillators, high-frequency ventilation
  • Central and umbilical line care; arterial line management
  • Blood product administration; IV vasopressors
  • Therapeutic hypothermia; phototherapy; surfactants
  • Gavage, bottle, and breastfeeding support
  • Suctioning, tracheostomy care, chest tube management

Requirements

  • Valid state license (compact license preferred)
  • Current background check and references (2 references covering 1 year within last 3 years)
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 holiday shifts (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
