NICU Level III RN – Day Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced NICU RN to provide direct care to critically ill neonates in a Level III unit. You'll manage complex medical and surgical cases across all neonatal subspecialties (excluding cardiac), working with a daily census of 35 patients.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Block scheduling required
- Weekend coverage: 6 shifts per 6-week period; self-scheduled and variable
- Float requirement: Yes, PRN between units
- Call: Not required
- Duration: 26 weeks
Patient Care & Ratios
- Patient population: Neonates, including premature infants, post-surgical cases, and those with respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)
Clinical Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 2+ years NICU experience; Level III experience preferred
- BLS and NRP Advanced certifications
- Competency with:
- Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP), oscillators, high-frequency ventilation
- Central and umbilical line care; arterial line management
- Blood product administration; IV vasopressors
- Therapeutic hypothermia; phototherapy; surfactants
- Gavage, bottle, and breastfeeding support
- Suctioning, tracheostomy care, chest tube management
Requirements
- Valid state license (compact license preferred)
- Current background check and references (2 references covering 1 year within last 3 years)
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 holiday shifts (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
