Cardiac Progressive Care Unit – Night Shift
Assignment Overview
- Shift: 3 × 12-hour nights (36 hrs/week), 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Start: Every Monday
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
- Location: Within 50-mile radius
The Role
You'll work in a high-acuity cardiac PCU managing complex cardiac patients across the spectrum of arrhythmias, heart failure, and post-procedural care. This is a fast-paced environment with frequent admissions, discharges, and significant procedural volume.
What You'll Do
Care for patients including those with atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias, heart failure, chest pain, hypertension, post-catheterization/stent placement, valve replacements, pacemakers, ICDs, LVADs, and heart transplant recipients. You'll manage cardiac drips (insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, lasix, nitroglycerin), interpret telemetry independently, perform chest tube care, manage TR bands and groin sites, and support cardioversions and ablations.
You Must Have
- Minimum 18 months recent cardiac unit experience
- Current RN license
- Independent cardiac rhythm interpretation; pass a proctored, paper-based dysrhythmia exam on first attempt (calipers required)
- Proficiency with all required cardiac drips and telemetry
- Chest tube experience
- Rating of "4" on all cardiac skills
- Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred (training provided if needed)
Float expectations: May float to similar cardiac/PCU units; will not float to monitor tech roles.
