Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Night Shift
Assignment Overview
- Shift: 3 × 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 36 hours/week
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Start: Every Monday
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
- Location: 50-mile radius required
About the Unit
What You'll Do
Provide direct care to patients with heart failure, arrhythmias (A-Fib, SVT, V-Tach, V-Fib), chest pain, hypertension, and post-procedure recovery. You'll manage patients after heart catheterizations, stent placements, valve replacements, ablations, pacemaker/ICD insertions, and cardioversions. Experience with TR band management, sheath removal, and groin site care is essential. You'll also care for heart transplant and LVAD patients.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 18 months recent cardiac unit experience
- Independent cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia exam competency (paper-based, proctored, first attempt pass required — no tech assistance)
- Proficiency with cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, nitroglycerin
- Chest tube experience
- Telemetry interpretation and certification
- Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred (training provided if needed)
- All cardiac skills rated at competency level 4
Requirements
- RN license (active)
- Electronic health record proficiency required
Floating
You may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as clinically needed.
