RN – Step Down
Location: Atlanta, GA
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 3 × 12-hour shifts (36 hrs/week)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
About the Role
You'll join a high-acuity cardiac progressive care unit managing patients across the full spectrum of cardiac conditions. This is an ideal assignment if you have strong cardiac experience and enjoy procedural volume with frequent admissions and discharges.
Clinical Scope
Patient populations include heart failure, atrial fibrillation, SVT, ventricular dysrhythmias, chest pain, hypertension, post-transplant, and LVAD patients. You'll manage cardiac drips (insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, nitroglycerin) and assist with procedures including right and left heart catheterizations, stent placement, valve replacement, pacemakers, ICDs, cardioversions, ablations, and groin site management.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- Minimum 18 months recent cardiac unit experience
- Ability to independently interpret cardiac rhythms
- Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt (paper-based, calipers required; no remediation)
- Chest tube experience required
- Proficiency with all listed cardiac drips and telemetry interpretation
- Rating of "4" on all cardiac skills checklist
- Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred (training available)
Floating
You may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed. You will not float to monitor tech roles.
