Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Registered Nurse

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract | Atlanta, GA

This high-acuity cardiac PCU role is ideal for experienced nurses with a strong cardiac background. The unit manages a complex patient population with significant procedural volume and frequent admissions and discharges.

Assignment Details

• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3×12-hour shifts (36 hrs/week)
• Contract: 13 weeks | Start dates available every Monday
• Scrubs: Navy blue
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius — no local travelers

Patient Population

Heart failure, A-fib, atrial flutter, SVT, VTach, VFib, STEMI/NSTEMI, chest pain, hypertension, congenital heart disease, heart transplant, and LVAD patients.

Common Procedures

Right and left heart catheterizations, sheath and TR band management, stent placement, valve replacement, pacemakers, ICDs, cardioversions, ablations, and groin site management.

Required Competencies

• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
• Independent cardiac rhythm interpretation; must pass a proctored, paper-based Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt using calipers — no remediation offered
• Proficiency with cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
• Chest tube experience required
• Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred (training available)

Float Expectations

Travelers may float to similar cardiac/PCU units. Floating to Cardiac Monitor Tech positions is not applicable for travel staff.
