Psychiatric Nurse / Mental Health Technician

About the Role

The facility operates five psychiatric units serving adolescents, adults, and seniors across a range of acuity levels. You will work in a fast-paced inpatient setting providing direct patient care, crisis intervention, and therapeutic support.

Clinical Scope

  • Assess mental health status and recognize signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral issues
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Administer and monitor psychiatric medications for side effects and adverse reactions
  • Provide crisis intervention using de-escalation techniques
  • Build therapeutic relationships through active listening, empathy, and clear communication
  • Monitor vital signs and track mental status changes throughout your shift

Unit Details

You may float across units based on facility needs. Patient populations include:

  • Adolescents (ages 12–18)
  • Adults with thought disorder diagnoses and lower-acuity psychiatric conditions
  • Senior patients

Requirements

  • Current BLS and CPI certifications (required at submission)
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, seven days a week, including weekends
  • Days off not guaranteed unless specified in contract
