Medical/Surgical & Telemetry – Travel RN | Wilmington, NC
Shift: Days, 3x12-hour (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | 36 or 48 hours/week accepted
Contract Duration: 13–26 weeks | Start Date: November 22, 2026
This Med/Surg Telemetry unit manages an active adult and geriatric population with diagnoses including diabetes, COPD, ia, sepsis, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, encephalopathy, and COVID-19. The unit includes an isolation area for COVID patients and supports a step-down patient population managed by dedicated stepdown staff.
Clinical Skills Required:
- Remote telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- IV insulin protocols, heparin drips, PCA management
- Central line blood draw, PICC line management, phlebotomy
- Blood product administration, colostomy and feeding tube care
- Pre/post hemodialysis management, wound care and wound vac
- CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen delivery systems
- Chest tube management, isolation precautions
- Rapid Response Team utilization
Preferred Experience: Port access, tracheostomy management, ABG interpretation, CVA care, surgical drains
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (Med/Surg or Tele)
- Active RN license (NC or Compact; pending OK for submittal)
- BLS required; must pass EKG testing prior to start
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Details:
- Scrubs: Navy/Blue and White
- Weekend requirement: 12–16 shifts per contract
- RTO: Up to 7 days (pre-approved; no additional RTO after signing)
- Floating required within the facility
- Orientation: 24 hours (plus hospital orientation week one)
- Contract staff must be available for storm/hurricane/disaster response as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
