Cardiac ICU (CICU) — Night Shift | Asheville, NC
This is a 13-week travel contract in a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, working nights (18:45–07:15) on a 36-hour/week schedule with 12-hour shifts and alternating weekends.
Unit Overview
The CICU is a high-acuity cardiac unit staffed exclusively by RNs — no HUC or PCT support. The team manages complex cardiac patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring and intervention. Travelers are expected to float to other areas as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- Prior ICU experience required
- Titration of vesicant medications
- Familiarity with pressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Ventilator and tracheostomy management
- Telemetry interpretation
- Hemodynamic monitoring, including PA catheter setup and interpretation
- Transvenous pacing and cardioversion
- TEE and chest tube insertion/maintenance
Preferred Skills
- IABP, Impella, and CRRT experience
- CCRN certification
Procedures Performed on the Unit
Cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
Certifications
No certifications required; CCRN recommended
Dress Code
All navy or navy and white scrubs; no pullovers, hoodies, or green scrubs
