Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its postpartum unit. You'll provide comprehensive couplet care to mothers and newborns during the critical recovery period following vaginal or cesarean delivery. This is a regional contract with potential to float between facilities based on patient census and departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor maternal recovery, including fundal checks, lochia, incision/perineal care, and pain management
- Monitor for postpartum complications (hemorrhage, infection, preeclampsia) and escalate care promptly
- Provide newborn assessment and care, including vital signs and feeding support
- Support breastfeeding education and maternal-infant bonding
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge planning
- Collaborate with OB physicians, lactation consultants, and the interdisciplinary team
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Colorado CAPS clearance
- Minimum 1 year of postpartum nursing experience
- Ability to provide multi-skill couplet care
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- RNC-MNN certification
Schedule Details
Every 3rd weekend rotation and holiday rotation required per department guidelines.
