Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Postpartum RN to provide comprehensive couplet care for mothers and newborns during the critical recovery phase following delivery. You'll work night shifts in a regional contract role with the ability to float between facilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor maternal recovery post-vaginal and cesarean delivery, including fundal checks, lochia evaluation, incision/perineal care, and pain management
- Monitor for postpartum complications such as hemorrhage, infection, and preeclampsia; escalate concerns promptly
- Provide newborn assessment and care, supporting healthy bonding and transition
- Educate mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and the postpartum recovery process
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Collaborate with OB physicians, lactation consultants, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Prepare families for discharge with clear instructions and follow-up guidance
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- Colorado CAPS clearance required
- Minimum 1+ years postpartum nursing experience
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- RNC-MNN certification preferred
- Ability to provide couplet care (maternal and newborn)
- Every 3rd weekend rotation and holiday coverage per department guidelines
