Labor & Delivery Nurse

About the Role
The facility is seeking an experienced RN to join its Labor & Delivery unit. You'll provide direct care to laboring patients across the full spectrum of deliveries, from uncomplicated vaginal births to high-risk obstetric cases and cesarean sections.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor, including assessment and interpretation of fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
- Administer labor medications (induction/augmentation agents) and support epidural management per physician orders
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and provide OR circulating support for cesarean sections
- Recognize and manage high-risk OB emergencies (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress)
- Provide immediate newborn resuscitation and care support
- Educate patients and families on labor progress, pain management, and postpartum expectations
- Collaborate with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record
Required Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification preferred
- 1+ years of L&D experience
- Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk OB, and vaginal/cesarean deliveries
Additional Information
This is a regional contract with potential float responsibilities per department guidelines. You'll be subject to weekend, holiday, and call requirements. Candidates with multiskill capacity—including , postpartum couplet care, and newborn admits—are preferred.
