Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Shift: 3rd shift, 3×12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Duration: 13-week contract

About the Role

Join the emergency department as a Registered Nurse, providing rapid assessment and care to patients across a wide spectrum of emergent and urgent conditions. You'll work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment where clinical judgment, composure, and collaboration are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • and assess incoming patients; prioritize care based on acuity
  • Perform rapid, comprehensive nursing assessments and implement evidence-based interventions
  • Respond to trauma activations, codes, and acute deterioration with appropriate emergency care
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures per physician orders and unit protocols
  • Monitor patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge; maintain efficient patient flow
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary team on plan of care
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
  • Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
  • Maintain infection control, patient safety, and de-escalation standards

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS required
  • Minimum 1+ year of emergency department nursing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to function in high-acuity, fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and clinical assessment skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN degree
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) certification
  • Experience with protocols and trauma patients
