PCU / Stepdown

IMCU Float Pool RN — Stepdown | Nights | Boone, NC

This 13-week night shift contract places you in an Intermediate Medical Care Unit (IMCU) float pool, with floating required to Med/Surg based on patient volume. The unit functions as a step-down/progressive care setting, with the majority of patients on continuous telemetry monitoring.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Up to 2 weekends per month required
• Holiday coverage required
• Block scheduling may be considered if requested upfront (not guaranteed)
• All requested time off must be submitted with your profile

Clinical Scope

• Step-down/progressive care acuity serving adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and occasional pediatric patients — comfort with peds is required
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Common IV drips include Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone; managed within established parameters without upward titration unless provider-ordered
• Heparin titration protocol in place
• Skills include central line care, blood product administration, rapid response/code team utilization, and non-invasive airway management

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years IMCU/telemetry experience
• 2+ years of travel nursing experience required
• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA-issued), and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems required
• Scrubs: navy or white only

Candidates residing within 40 miles of the facility are not eligible. A driver's license is required for address verification prior to any offer.
