Emergency Room RN — Travel Contract

Merced, CA | 13-Week Contract | Nights

This Emergency Room travel position supports a busy acute care ER serving a broad patient population. The unit operates with 24/7 charge nurse coverage, around-the-clock respiratory therapy, and 24/7 pharmacy support. ER techs with EMT, MA, or CNA backgrounds assist with tech duties and EKGs.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 2 weekends per 4 weeks
• Holiday coverage required (2 of every 3 holidays)
• 36 guaranteed hours per week

Clinical Scope

The ER manages routine emergency presentations as well as higher-acuity cases including STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric patients. The facility is stroke certified and serves as the base hospital for EMS. STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric cases are transferred out. Nurses may carry ER holds and must maintain strong, thorough documentation skills. EMTALA compliance is expected.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Recent electronic health record experience required — please note specific experience on your resume
• Strong documentation skills essential

Unit Details

• Scrubs: Navy blue (jackets and undershirts must also be navy, white, or black)
• No floating outside of the ER
• Orientation: up to 6 preceptored shifts
• Unit uses self-scheduling; scheduler reserves the right to rebalance
• Travel teams permitted; same schedule cannot be guaranteed

Cancellation Policy

The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
