Medical-Surgical / Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Rochester, NY
13-Week Contract | 3x12-Hour Nights (19:00–07:00)
This Med-Surg/Telemetry unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and stroke diagnoses. The clinical environment is fast-paced, with strong interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and social services.
Schedule & Coverage
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every-other-weekend requirement
- Float required to MS, ICU, and ED as needed
- No on-call required
- Block scheduling accommodated when possible, not guaranteed
- No more than 7 days of requested time off; no holiday RTO
Clinical Responsibilities
- Phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement (mandatory competency)
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Oxygen administration via nasal cannula, face mask, and portable tank
- Non-invasive airway management
- Peripheral line care and management
- Rapid Response Team activation
- Isolation precautions/PPE
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med-Surg/Tele experience
- Active, in-hand New York RN license required at time of submission
- BLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Electronic charting proficiency required
- Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
- First-time travelers welcome
Scrubs: Any combination of navy and white
PCTs are present on all shifts to assist with vitals, blood glucose checks, ECGs, and activities of daily living, allowing RNs to focus on clinical care.
