Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week night contract. You'll work three 12-hour shifts per week (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM) with no on-call duties, supporting patients across all age groups in a dynamic critical care environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year respiratory therapy experience
- RRT preferred; CRT considered
- AHA ACLS and PALS certifications required
- Current BLS certification
- Permanent residence 100+ miles from the facility's service area
Clinical Scope
You'll provide respiratory support for adult critical care, mechanical ventilation management, aerosol administration, arterial blood gas interpretation, and weaning protocols. Skills include high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP setup, tracheostomy care, chest physiotherapy, and troubleshooting ventilator alarms.
Schedule & Flexibility
- Three 12-hour night shifts weekly
- No call requirement
- Orientation begins Mondays (includes 16 hours non-billable orientation with online modules)
- Hospital may cancel one shift biweekly without penalty if census decreases
- Additional shifts available for overtime as needed
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Relias EKG testing within 72 hours of signing (two attempts allowed)
- Drug test 12–14 calendar days prior to start
- Facial hair must be trimmed/removed for fit testing compliance
- AHA certification required for ACLS/BLS (other certifying bodies not accepted)
Vaccines
Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions available). COVID-19 vaccine not required.
