Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU) — Travel RN | Asheville, NC

Shift: 18:45–07:15 (Night shift)

Contract: 13 weeks | 36 guaranteed hours per week

Unit Overview

This high-acuity Surgical Trauma ICU manages complex surgical and trauma patients requiring intensive monitoring and intervention. The unit is a fast-paced environment where nurses are expected to manage critically ill patients with confidence and composure.

Clinical Scope — Procedures Performed:

  • Intubation/extubation, trach placement, bronchoscopy, endoscopy
  • Chest tube, central line, A-line, and Foley placement
  • EVD/bolt placement and management
  • Proning, TPA administration, hypertonic medication administration
  • CRRT/HD, irrigation and debridement, minor surgery
  • Wound vac management, temperature regulation, PCA management

Scheduling & Float Requirements:

  • 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling cycle
  • Modified self-scheduling available
  • Travelers float before core staff; float destinations include MICU, NSICU, CVICU, CICU, or Step Down

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license
  • Active ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Trauma ICU experience (Level I or II Trauma Center required)
  • Surgical ICU experience
  • Acute care ICU background — LTAC experience not accepted

Dress Code: All navy, all white, or navy bottoms with white top
