Progressive Care Unit – Registered Nurse

Location & Schedule

Asheville, NC | Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Every other weekend | 13-week contract | 36 guaranteed hours per week

Unit Overview

The Progressive Care Unit manages patients with complex neuro and trauma needs, providing intermediate-level care for patients transitioning from ICU or requiring close monitoring. You'll care for patients recovering from neurological events, spinal injuries, and trauma, performing assessments and interventions that bridge acute and general medical-surgical care.

Clinical Scope & Procedures

• Neurological and spinal assessments
• Chest tube management
• PCA pump and IV infusion administration
• C-collar and TLSO brace application
• Lumbar drain monitoring
• Feeding tube placement
• Blood transfusions
• Tracheostomy care

Requirements

• Current RN license (state of practice)
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Neuro and trauma care experience required

Floating & Team Expectations

You may float to stepdown and medical-surgical units as needed. Success in this role requires strong teamwork and genuine patient-focused care.
