MedSurg / Telemetry – Clinical Decision & Direct Admit Unit | Nights | Asheville, NC
This 13-week contract (with a strong track record of extensions) places you on a fast-paced Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit focused on ED decompression and enhanced patient throughput. The unit's primary mission is receiving admitted patients directly from the ED, completing admission assessments and medication reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders — a model designed to reduce length of stay and improve the patient experience.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 18:45–07:15
- Every other weekend required; no call; holiday assistance expected
Patient Population & Scope
- Wide variety of diagnoses across MedSurg, Telemetry, and Step-Down acuity levels
- Minimal bedside procedures; high emphasis on clinical decision-making and throughput
- Float to other units within your skill set is expected
What You'll Need
- Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg, Telemetry (remote), and Step-Down/PCU experience preferred
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Charge Nurse experience or willingness to take charge is a plus
- Strong teamwork orientation and adaptability in a high-turnover environment
Additional Opportunities
Travel nurses on this unit may also support the CMU Telemetry team (centralized telemetry monitoring and escalation) or serve as ED Transport Nurses, a 24/7 role dedicated to moving higher-acuity patients from the ED to specialized inpatient units.
Dress Code: Navy blue, white, or a combination — no t-shirts; appropriate jacket/sweater permitted
Contract: 13 weeks | 36 guaranteed hours per week | Start: August 2026
