Registered Nurse

MedSurg / Telemetry – Clinical Decision & Direct Admit Unit | Nights | Asheville, NC

This is a 13-week night shift contract (18:45–07:15) on a fast-paced Clinical Decision/Direct Admit unit. The unit's primary mission is ED decompression and enhanced throughput — receiving admitted patients directly from the ED, completing admission assessments, medication reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders to reduce overall length of stay. This is not an overflow or holding unit.

Patient Population & Acuity

Nurses care for a wide variety of diagnoses across MedSurg and Step-Down acuity levels. Bedside procedures are minimal; the focus is on efficient, high-quality admission care.

Schedule & Float

• Every other weekend required; no on-call obligation; holiday assistance expected
• Floating to other units within your skill set is expected
• Additional opportunities may be available in a centralized Telemetry monitoring role or as an ED Transport Nurse

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Preferred Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg, Telemetry (remote), and Step-Down/PCU experience
• Charge Nurse experience is a plus
• Strong teamwork orientation and comfort in a high-volume, quick-turnover environment

Dress Code

Navy blue and/or white scrubs (no t-shirts); navy or white jacket/sweater permitted

This unit has a strong track record of travel nurse retention, with many clinicians returning for extensions.
