Emergency Department RN — Night Shift | Asheville, NC
This 42-week travel contract (with an initial 6-week orientation period) places you in a high-volume, fast-paced Emergency Department serving a richly diverse, multicultural community. The department is known for strong teamwork and a welcoming culture.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 18:45–07:15 (4×12)
- 48 hours guaranteed per week; overtime paid after 48
- Every other weekend required
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
- Must be available to float to all sections within the ED; no floating outside the ED
Orientation
- 4-hour facility orientation followed by an 8-hour floor shift
Clinical Scope
The ED manages a broad acuity range, from medical patients to behavioral health holds. Candidates should be comfortable with high-acuity presentations, stroke care, and trauma cases. The department emphasizes real-time coaching, patient-centered communication, and consistent patient updates throughout the visit.
Required Certifications (all prior to start date)
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
- ENPC (within 90 days of hire)
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in an ED setting
- Background in a high-acuity ED with trauma and comprehensive stroke capabilities preferred
- Strong teamwork mindset with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
- Flexibility to work all areas of the ED
Dress Code
- RNs: All navy, all white, or a navy/white combination
