NICU Respiratory Therapist – Level III
Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM, 4 x 12 nights
Contract: 13 weeks

About the Role
The facility's Level III NICU is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist to provide specialized care for high-acuity and critically ill neonates. You'll manage premature and extremely low-birth-weight infants requiring advanced respiratory support, including therapeutic cooling protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, including conventional and high-frequency ventilation (HFOV/HFJV)
- Provide CPAP, BiPAP/NIPPV, high-flow nasal cannula, and oxygen therapy
- Assist with intubations, extubations, airway management, and emergency stabilization
- Administer respiratory medications, aerosol treatments, and surfactant
- Obtain and interpret arterial, capillary, and venous blood gases; adjust respiratory support based on results
- Participate in neonatal resuscitation and high-risk deliveries
- Support patients undergoing therapeutic hypothermia/cooling
- Recognize and respond rapidly to respiratory deterioration
- Maintain and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment
- Collaborate with neonatologists, NICU nurses, and interdisciplinary teams
- Document treatments and patient responses accurately
Requirements
- Minimum 3–4 years of recent Level III NICU experience
- Active state Respiratory Therapist license
- RRT credential preferred
- BLS and NRP certifications
- Strong hands-on experience with high-acuity neonates and complex respiratory cases
- Therapeutic cooling experience required
- Ability to work independently and manage critically ill patients
- Previous travel experience preferred
