Float Pool RN — Medical/Surgical & Telemetry | West Burlington, IA
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Nights)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
Start Date: October 12, 2026
This float pool position supports multiple non-critical care inpatient units across a multi-campus health system. Nurses in this role provide care to diverse patient populations including geriatric, adult medical/surgical, psychiatric, and telemetry patients.
Float Scope:
Float assignments may include medical/surgical, telemetry, behavioral health, and the emergency department (for boarded patients). Nurses with critical care experience may also be floated to ICU or step-down settings.
Clinical Expectations:
- Apply the full nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation
- Self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a Basic Dysrhythmia test-out is required during the first week of orientation and must be passed to work in this float pool
- Respond on-site within one hour if placed on call during low-census periods
Schedule:
- 36-hour workweek with potential for overtime
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Every other holiday rotation required
- Occasional on-call during low-census periods
Requirements:
- Active RN license
- ACLS certification required
- Electronic health record experience in a comparable inpatient unit within the last 12 months required
- Telemetry/dysrhythmia competency (self-study required prior to start)
