Cardiac Progressive Care Unit – 13-Week Assignment
Shift & Schedule
- NOC: 3 × 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Navy blue scrubs
- Available start: Every Monday
- 50-mile radius; non-local travelers only
Unit Overview
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 18 months recent cardiac unit experience
- Dysrhythmia competency: You must independently interpret cardiac rhythms and pass a proctored, paper-based dysrhythmia exam on the first attempt (no remediation). The exam uses calipers; review study guides before testing.
- Proficiency with common cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
- Chest tube management
- Telemetry interpretation and monitoring
- All cardiac skills rated at "4" on skills checklist
Patient Populations & Procedures
You'll care for heart failure, A-fib, SVT, VT/VF, fluid overload, chest pain, hypertension, heart transplant, congenital heart disease, and LVAD patients. Common procedures include left/right heart catheterizations, stent placement, valve replacements, STEMI/NSTEMI care, pacemaker and ICD placement, cardioversions, ablations, and groin site management.
Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred (training provided if needed).
Floating
You may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed.
