Interventional Vascular Specialist II

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Interventional Vascular Specialist II to join the interventional radiology department on a 13-week contract. You'll work 4 × 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), including weekends and holidays.

Clinical Scope

You'll assist in advanced interventional vascular procedures including pulmonary thrombectomy, AAA repair, TEVAR, and FEVAR. Your responsibilities include:

  • Scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring during complex procedures
  • Managing access sites, including sheath removal and hematoma assessment
  • Operating x-ray systems and troubleshooting imaging equipment in collaboration with biomedical engineers
  • Working with specialty devices (laser, penumbra, Inari, shockwave)
  • Performing multiple wire exchanges and managing advanced techniques like over-the-wire balloon placements
  • Precepting new staff and students
  • Maintaining sterile technique and supply management
  • Responding quickly in emergency situations
  • Communicating effectively with physicians, team members, and patients

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology or cardiovascular technology program
  • Minimum 1 year as an Interventional Vascular Specialist, Interventional Radiology Technologist, or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist
  • Current certification: ARRT-R (with VI or CV credential) or RCIS
  • Intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of radiation safety and vascular anatomy
  • Ability to work under pressure
