Med/Surg – Orthopedic/Telemetry | Night Shift | Travel RN
Location: Burlington, NC
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 3×12-hour shifts
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: October 5, 2026
This orthopedic and medical-surgical unit serves adult through geriatric patients, with telemetry monitoring capability and an on-unit physical therapy gym allowing patients to receive rehabilitation without leaving the floor. The unit also accommodates ED overflow patients, at times with elevated acuity.
Patient Population & Clinical Scope:
- High volume: Orthopedic surgical patients including total joint replacements, fracture repairs, shoulder repairs, and kyphoplasties
- Moderate volume: Neck and back surgical patients, inpatient and 24-hour observation medical patients
- Occasional use of CPMs and Buck's traction
Schedule & Expectations:
- Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required
- No on-call required
- Float to other campus locations required as needed
- Charge RN shifts required as needed
Required Skills & Certifications:
- BLS required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; prior travel experience required
- Charge RN experience required
- Telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP, CBI, tracheostomy care, PCA management
Compliance Requirements:
- Active RN license required at time of submission
- EKG competency exam required (2 attempts allowed)
- COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- No local candidates within 50 miles
- No open background cases permitted
- Orientation includes non-billable modules (approximately 2–4 hours)
