Progressive Care Unit (PCU) | Night Shift | Greensboro, NC

Contract Duration: 16 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12 (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

This telemetry-monitored PCU cares for adult patients across a broad acuity range, with a primary focus on stroke, renal disorders, sepsis, endocrine, gastrointestinal, and hematological conditions. All beds provide continuous cardiac surveillance through a centralized monitoring department. The unit supports patients who may require extended or total care without transfer when stepping down from PCU to med-surg level.

Schedule & Expectations

  • Night shift, 3×12-hour shifts per week
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required
  • No on-call obligations
  • Floating to other campuses required as needed

Required Certifications

  • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Clinical Skills Required

  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (EKG exam required — 2 attempts allowed)
  • Titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
  • Heparin protocols
  • Peripheral line, PICC line, and central line care/management
  • BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
  • Blood product administration
  • Chest tube management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac
  • IV insulin protocols

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers welcome
  • PCU experience required; prior charge experience preferred
  • Active RN license in hand at time of submission
  • No local candidates within 50 miles
  • Third-party education verification required
  • Background check must show no open cases

Orientation: Approximately 36 hours, including non-billable unit-based modules (2–4 hours)
