Medical-Surgical RN — Chattanooga, TN

13-Week Contract | Days | 36 Hours Guaranteed

This med-surg unit provides care for a general adult patient population across a range of acuity levels. The unit is well-supported with 2–3 techs per shift, a charge nurse, and clinical coordinator coverage, creating a collaborative and structured work environment known for its family-like culture and visible leadership.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Block scheduling not guaranteed
• Float requirement between two med-surg units

Clinical Skills Required

• IV starts and lab draws
• Nasogastric tube (NGT) placement
• Wound care and wound vac management
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and interpretation
• Telemetry monitoring
• Heparin drip management
• Feeding pump, bladder scanner, and glucometer use

Certifications

• BLS (required)

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs; no fleece or sweatshirts

Travelers on this unit are expected to maintain a patient- and family-centered approach, perform service recovery when needed, and escalate concerns appropriately. The unit fosters a learning atmosphere with self-scheduling options and active staff recognition programs.
