Respiratory Therapist – 12-Hour Night Shift
Assignment Overview
The facility is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week contract on the night shift (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM). You'll work a rotating 4-week schedule with every other weekend required. This is a dynamic role covering multiple units and settings.
Clinical Scope
You'll provide respiratory care across inpatient floors (medical-surgical, progressive care, ICU), emergency department, rehabilitation, post-anesthesia care, skilled nursing, endoscopy, catheterization lab, and outpatient settings. Your daily duties include:
- Administering breathing treatments and managing respiratory equipment
- Collecting ABGs and capillary sticks for I-Stats
- Assisting with intubations (no independent intubation required)
- Performing outpatient ABGs and 6-minute walk tests
You'll care for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients (no NICU setting).
Staffing & Support
You won't be the only RT on shift. A charge RT is available nights and weekends; a supervisor or director is present Monday–Friday. Orientation includes 1–3 preceptor-led shifts as needed. No call or float requirements.
Requirements
- Current RRT credential via NBRC (CRT acceptable if grandfathered by the WV Board of Respiratory Care)
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- WV CARES clearance required prior to start
- Preferred: 3–4 years experience (first-time travelers considered)
- Valid driver's license required; 50-mile radius from facility
Schedule
36 guaranteed hours per week. Client may cancel 2 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
