ICU / CCU Travel Nurse — Oxnard, CA

13-Week Contract | Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

This combined ICU/CCU unit manages a high-acuity, complex patient population with a strong emphasis on neuro-surgical and cardiac cases. Nurses care for patients following craniotomies, carotid procedures, ventriculostomies, and ICP monitoring, as well as open-heart surgery, post-catheterization, and patients on Impellas and intra-aortic balloon pumps. No CRRT or ECMO is required.

Shift & Schedule

  • 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage integrated with permanent staff rotation (typically one major, one minor)
  • Self-scheduling available but not guaranteed

Clinical Details

  • Vasoactive and sedation drips in use (vasopressin, norepinephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, propofol, fentanyl, and others)
  • Ventilator management required
  • Nurses independently read cardiac monitor strips — no dedicated monitor tech
  • Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
  • Intensivist/hospitalist available in-house; on-call after hours

Float Requirement

May float to the intermediate care (stepdown) or observation unit.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of ICU experience (general ICU considered; neuro or cardiac specialty experience a plus)
  • Active CA RN license
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (PALS also required)
  • Travel and critical care charting experience preferred
  • Scrub color: Navy

Contract Details

  • Duration: 13 weeks | Guaranteed: 36 hours/week
  • Orientation: 3 unit-specific shifts
  • Start date: December 7, 2026
