Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Batavia, NY
13-Week Contract | Nights 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3x12)
This med/surg telemetry unit primarily serves adult and geriatric patients managing conditions across respiratory, cardiac, GI, and neurological systems, with potential overflow ortho patients as census demands.
Unit Structure & Schedule
- The unit operates on a Care Delivery Model with collaborative teams: 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 PCT managing up to 9 patients; modified team configurations are used when full teams aren't available
- Float required to other med/surg units
- Weekend coverage: every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Clinical Skills & Scope
Candidates should be proficient in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, central and PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula, chest tube care, tracheostomy management, blood product administration, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, PCA, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions.
Experience with post-MI care, renal failure, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, intracranial bleeds, ortho trauma, and total joint replacement is beneficial.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Active New York RN license required prior to submission
- Prior charge experience preferred
- Electronic health record experience required
Scrubs: Navy blue and/or white — any combination
Orientation: Approximately 12 hours on-site; pre-start modules required (up to 10 hours total)
