Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) / Step-Down RN — Rochester, NY

Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

This step-down opportunity is based in Rochester, NY, on an intermediate care unit that bridges the gap between general medical-surgical care and the ICU. The unit manages adult and geriatric patients with a primary focus on pulmonary diagnoses, as well as a broad range of acute medical conditions requiring close monitoring and specialized intervention.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Start date: October 6, 2026

Clinical Scope

Patients require continuous telemetry and pulse-oximetry monitoring. Clinical responsibilities include:

• Arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula support
• Titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
• Heparin protocols, thrombolytic agents, and PCA management
• Chest tube care, tracheostomy management, and wound vac
• Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury care
• Blood product administration and procedural sedation monitoring

Float Requirement: Candidates may float to ICU or medical-surgical units.

Requirements

• Active New York RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
• Minimum 1 year of step-down/IMCU experience; travel experience preferred
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (NIHSS must be included in submission)
• Electronic charting proficiency is a hard requirement
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• Maximum 10 days of pre-approved time off per contract
