Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) / Step-Down RN — Rochester, NY
Nights | 4x12 | 13-Week Contract
This step-down opportunity is based in a fast-paced Intermediate Care Unit serving adult and geriatric patients who require a higher level of monitoring and intervention than a general medical-surgical floor. The unit focuses heavily on pulmonary diagnoses and receives patients from the Emergency Department, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors.
Shift & Schedule
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 4 shifts per week; every other weekend required
- Float required to ICU or medical-surgical units
Clinical Scope
Nurses in this unit manage continuous telemetry and pulse-oximetry, interpret and respond to dysrhythmias, and care for patients on arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and titrated IV infusions. Additional competencies include BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, heparin and insulin protocols, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, thrombolytic agents, procedural sedation monitoring, wound vac care, pre/post hemodialysis management, and blood product administration.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
- Minimum 1 year of step-down or IMCU/PCU experience; travel experience required
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (must be included in submission)
- Electronic health record experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility

- Orientation: 24 hours
- Pre-approved time off: Up to 1 block; no more than 10 days total RTO
