PACU Registered Nurse – Outpatient Surgery Center
Position Overview
The facility's outpatient surgery center is seeking a PACU RN to join a focused team managing post-operative recovery for diverse surgical specialties. You'll work in a fast-paced ambulatory setting with strong clinical protocols and direct physician collaboration.
Clinical Scope
This role covers Phase I and Phase II recovery for patients undergoing ophthalmology, orthopedic, general surgery, plastic surgery, gynecologic, breast, podiatric, and robotic procedures. You'll manage airway assessments, conscious sedation monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia recognition, pain management, medication reconciliation, and pre/post-operative education. Patient populations include pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:30 (5×8-hour days)
- Post-shift call: 18:00–21:00 as needed
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
- Start date: ASAP
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years PACU experience (hard requirement)
- Strong ophthalmology background (hard requirement)
- ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications
- Compact state license in hand at submission
- No weekend shifts required; float dependent on census
Holiday Commitment
Must be available to work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day). All time-off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process.
