Med/Surg Telemetry – Neuroscience Unit | Night Shift | Winston-Salem, NC

This 13-week contract places you on a busy neuroscience-focused Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring primarily for stroke patients, as well as those with epilepsy, seizure disorders, subdural hematomas, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), traumatic brain injury, and brain tumors. Neurosurgery patients are also part of the census.

Shift & Schedule

  • Nights: 18:45–07:15 (3x12-hour shifts)
  • 36 or 48 hours per week available
  • Every other weekend required; missed weekend shifts must be made up
  • No RTO during the first week; RTO must be pre-approved prior to signing — no additional RTO requests accepted after booking

Clinical Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience, including at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience
  • Must have completed at least 2 prior travel contracts (first-time travelers not accepted)
  • Required skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
  • Preferred: ACLS
  • Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start

Additional Details

  • Float requirement: floating to other Med/Surg and Telemetry areas, which may include COVID care units
  • Orientation: 36 hours
  • Scrubs: Navy
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required
  • NC or Compact RN license required (pending licensure accepted at submission)
  • Local candidates (within 50 miles) are accepted at an adjusted rate

Call-outs are expected to be made up within the same week or at contract end. Frequent floating may occur.
