Medical-Surgical RN — Travel Contract | Wilmington, NC
Contract Duration: 13–26 weeks | Start: October 2026
About the Unit
This general Med/Surg unit cares for adult and geriatric patients across a range of medical and surgical diagnoses. The unit is appropriate for all Med/Surg nurses — no PCU-level patients are present.
Clinical Scope / Procedures:
- Heparin drips
- Wound vac dressing changes
- High-flow oxygen therapy
- Occasional short-term BiPAP support (respiratory team involved; no additional training required)
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
Schedule & Expectations
- Every other weekend required
- Must be available to work holidays (must cover 2 of 3 major holidays)
- Call required if placed on a prescheduled on-call shift
- Float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
- Candidates are assigned to an Inclement Weather/Storm Team and may be required to work during emergency or disaster events
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience
- BLS certification
- EKG/dysrhythmia test must be passed prior to start
- NC or compact RN license (pending acceptable at submission)
- First-time travelers accepted
Preferred Qualifications
- CPI certification
- Charge nurse experience
Additional Details
- Scrubs: Navy (not provided)
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Monthly unit team meetings are mandatory
- RTO: Up to 7 days maximum; no RTO during the first week; no additional RTO after signing
