Registered Nurse – Operating Room
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Operating Room nurse to provide circulating and/or scrub nursing support across a variety of surgical specialties. You'll work in a fast-paced surgical environment, supporting general surgery, orthopedic, gynecologic, urologic, and ENT procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform circulating and/or scrub duties during surgical cases
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and verify surgical site, consent, and procedures per protocol
- Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
- Monitor patient safety and status throughout surgical procedures
- Manage supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper function
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team for optimal case flow
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to recovery staff
- Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 1+ years of general OR experience
- Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles across multiple surgical specialties
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Proficiency with the facility's electronic health record system
Schedule
- 4 x 10-hour days
- Shift: 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Call every 5th weekend
- Call coverage for 1 winter and 1 summer holiday
- 1–2 days per week on-call (5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.) as needed
