Medical-Surgical/Oncology Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
Join the nursing team in a medical-surgical unit providing care to orthopedic, urologic, general surgery, and oncology patients. You'll work nights (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) as part of an interdisciplinary care team, managing patients across varying acuity levels.
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- 36-hour guarantee
- Every third weekend required
- 13-week contract
- Orientation dates: November 9, November 23, December 7
Requirements
- 2+ years of medical-surgical and/or oncology nursing experience
- Active Iowa RN license (or compact state license)
- BLS (AHA preferred)
- ACLS (AHA preferred)
- NIHSS (can be obtained during onboarding)
- Current driver's license
- One supervisory reference from the past two years
- Completed skills checklist specific to medical-surgical nursing
Clinical Skills
You'll administer heparin, PCA, and epidural infusions. Chemotherapy administration experience preferred if certified.
Important Notes
- Navy scrubs required
- Winter holiday requirements: You'll work 2 of 3 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day), with limited time-off requests during holiday periods
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility per driver's license
- Travel nursing experience preferred
