Operating Room RN – Travel Position
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week contract in a multi-specialty surgical environment. This is an excellent opportunity for seasoned OR nurses, including first-time travelers, to expand their clinical experience across diverse surgical specialties.
Shift & Schedule
- Weekends: 2 in-house weekend shifts required during contract; 2 weekend on-call shifts within 6 weeks
- No scheduling requests accommodated — flexibility essential
- Max 10 days RTO; none permitted in first 2 weeks
Requirements
- 3+ years OR experience
- Active California RN license (must be in hand at submission; no pending licenses)
- BLS certification required
- 2 professional references from past year (supervisor level or above; charge RN references not accepted)
Clinical Scope
The OR manages 12 rooms with a daily census of 35 patients across all age groups (neonates through geriatrics). You will scrub a full range of procedures including:
- Orthopedic & spine surgeries (ACL reconstruction, laminectomy, fusion, total joint replacement)
- General surgery (appendectomy, hernia repair, cholecystectomy, colon resection)
- Neuro procedures (craniotomy, VP shunt insertion)
- Plastics & reconstructive cases
- Burn surgeries
- Vascular and cardiac cases not required
Unit Support
IV team and unit secretaries provide interdisciplinary support. Self-scheduling model.
