Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Paducah, KY

Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Duration: 13 weeks

Schedule: Holidays and weekends as assigned

About the Role

The facility is seeking an RN to join its medical-surgical/telemetry unit. You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions. This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, cardiac monitoring expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across the interdisciplinary care team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and vital sign assessment; identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, including cardiac drips as applicable
• Manage pre- and post-operative patient care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
• Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and the care team on plan of care and discharge planning
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
• Typically manage 4–6 patients per shift

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1+ years of med-surg/telemetry nursing experience
• Demonstrated telemetry/EKG interpretation competency
• ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred

Preferred

• BSN degree
• Previous telemetry or cardiac nursing experience
