Psychiatric Nurse – NYC

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an RN for its psychiatric emergency department (CPEP). This is a night-shift position caring for patients in acute psychiatric crisis, including those presenting with behavioral health emergencies, suicidality, and co-occurring substance use disorders.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM, three 11.5-hour shifts per week
• 34.5 guaranteed hours per week
• 8-week contract
• Start date: November 1, 2026

Requirements

• New York State RN License (primary source verification)
• AHA BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of behavioral health experience
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience
• CPEP (Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program) experience required

Clinical Scope

You will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced psychiatric emergency setting, managing acute psychiatric presentations, de-escalation, medication administration, patient safety protocols, and crisis intervention. You'll work collaboratively with psychiatrists, social workers, and security staff to stabilize patients and facilitate appropriate disposition.
