Telemetry RN – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Telemetry RN for a 26-week contract beginning November 2nd. You'll work nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), three 12-hour shifts per week on a busy telemetry unit serving adolescents through geriatric patients.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience
- Active California RN license
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Proficiency in EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
- Experience with ventilated patients (chronic/long-term care)
- Ability to read rhythm strips
- Strong IV therapy and phlebotomy skills
- Competency with cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
Unit Details
- Census: 36 patients
- Float required to med-surg and other telemetry units
- Every other weekend coverage
- No on-call requirement
- Royal blue scrubs
Clinical Scope
You'll manage post-cardiac procedures (angiogram, MI, catheterization, surgery), oversee central line and PICC line care, administer blood products, and provide respiratory support including tracheostomy management, CPAP/BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula. Cardiac monitoring includes both unit and remote telemetry oversight with rapid response team coordination.
Pre-Start Requirements
- Advanced EKG competency exam (80% minimum passing score; two attempts allowed)
- Required online modules prior to start
- Smoke/nicotine-free facility (arrive free of tobacco odor)
Note: First-time travelers welcome. RTO must be submitted upfront; no time off permitted during the first two weeks.
