Telemetry RN – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Telemetry RN for a 26-week contract beginning November 2nd. You'll work nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), three 12-hour shifts per week on a busy telemetry unit serving adolescents through geriatric patients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience
  • Active California RN license
  • ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Proficiency in EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
  • Experience with ventilated patients (chronic/long-term care)
  • Ability to read rhythm strips
  • Strong IV therapy and phlebotomy skills
  • Competency with cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)

Unit Details

  • Census: 36 patients
  • Float required to med-surg and other telemetry units
  • Every other weekend coverage
  • No on-call requirement
  • Royal blue scrubs

Clinical Scope

You'll manage post-cardiac procedures (angiogram, MI, catheterization, surgery), oversee central line and PICC line care, administer blood products, and provide respiratory support including tracheostomy management, CPAP/BiPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula. Cardiac monitoring includes both unit and remote telemetry oversight with rapid response team coordination.

Pre-Start Requirements

  • Advanced EKG competency exam (80% minimum passing score; two attempts allowed)
  • Required online modules prior to start
  • Smoke/nicotine-free facility (arrive free of tobacco odor)

Note: First-time travelers welcome. RTO must be submitted upfront; no time off permitted during the first two weeks.
