Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join its laboratory team on the night shift. You will perform waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing across multiple disciplines—including hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology—while ensuring accurate, timely reporting of patient results and maintaining rigorous quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, and analysis according to CLIA '88 guidelines
• Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs; document all QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance
• Identify and troubleshoot issues that may affect test performance; implement corrective actions when systems deviate from established standards
• Communicate critical lab values and pertinent findings to physicians, nurses, and hospital staff per facility policy
• Provide oversight and training to laboratory technicians and aides
• Assume charge responsibilities when assigned
• Maintain accurate records and support inventory management
• Complete annual competency validations, mandatory safety training, and continuing education

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
• MLS(ASCP) or MLS(AMT) certification
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and meet performance deadlines
• Commitment to patient safety and infection control

Schedule

• Third shift (nights), 5 × 8-hour shifts
• 13-week contract
• Start date: October 5, 2026
• Louisville, Kentucky
