Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Lexington, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 days per week (12-hour shifts)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: October 19, 2026

About the Role

The facility's Emergency Department is seeking an experienced RN to deliver rapid, compassionate care in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. You'll work alongside physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary team members to manage patients across a broad spectrum of emergent and urgent conditions—from trauma activations and codes to acute medical presentations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rapid and comprehensive assessments to determine patient acuity and prioritize care
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per physician orders and established protocols
• Respond to trauma activations, code situations, and rapid patient deterioration with appropriate emergency interventions
• Monitor and manage patients throughout their ED stay, including admission, transfer, and discharge processes
• Collaborate with the care team on treatment planning and patient disposition
• Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Support efficient patient flow and throughput in a demanding setting
• Uphold infection control, safety, and de-escalation protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (or compact license) in Kentucky
• Minimum 1+ years of ER nursing experience
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Demonstrated comfort with protocols and high-acuity environments
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN degree
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
