Emergency Department Nurse
Position Overview
Join the Emergency Department as a Registered Nurse where you'll deliver high-acuity care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You'll work independently and collaboratively to assess, plan, and implement care for diverse patient populations across all acuity levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial patient assessments and protocols upon arrival
- Manage acute and critical patients including those requiring cardiac monitoring, intubation, vasoactive drips, and thrombolytic therapy
- Administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders and established protocols
- Recognize and interpret abnormal lab results, cardiac arrhythmias, and arterial blood gases; notify physicians of changes
- Identify patients at risk for abuse, violence, or medical errors; implement appropriate safety interventions and mandated reporting
- Collect and maintain forensic evidence per policy
- Provide patient and family education tailored to learning needs and barriers
- Collaborate on discharge planning incorporating support systems and resources
- Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by team members
- Document thoroughly and communicate patient status to the healthcare team
- Serve as preceptor or trainer for colleagues; pursue professional development
Requirements
- RN license (MA)
- ACLS certification upon hire (or active BLS with ACLS within 60 days)
- PALS within 6 months of hire
- 3–5 years ED experience preferred
- TNCC, ENPC, or CEN preferred
- Associate degree in nursing required; BSN preferred
Schedule & Contract
- 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every 3rd weekend and holiday
- 13-week contract
- Start date: September 15, 2026
