MICU RN – 13-Week Travel Contract

Location: Birmingham, AL

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (36 hours/week)

Start Date: October 5, 2026

About the Role

The facility's Medical ICU cares for critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and advanced life support. You'll manage complex cases including post-operative patients, sepsis, respiratory failure, and hemodynamic instability. This is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment where clinical judgment and quick decision-making are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Administer titratable vasoactive and sedation drips per physician orders
• Assess and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with intensivists and the interdisciplinary team on plan of care
• Perform rapid response and code interventions
• Document assessments and interventions in the EMR
• Maintain infection control and safety standards

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• 2+ years of recent ICU/critical care experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• CCRN certification preferred
• Proficiency with critical care equipment and titratable drips

Schedule Details

• Every other weekend and some holidays
• Contract runs through early January
• Minimum 13-week commitment required
